Jubal follows Bhekumuzi ‘Microphone Flute’ Ndlovu, a South African flutist and craftsman keeping the umtshingo alive: the sacred flute he shapes by hand and plays in villages, city spaces and festivals. Through his performances, his workshops and the flutes he makes, the film looks at what it takes to carry an Indigenous tradition into the present, and at healing as something that, like music, keeps coming round.
